What about Israel?  In 1948 the Jews once more had their own homeland, the first time since the second century AD.  Is this a fulfillment of scripture indicating that the Second Coming is near?  Others believe that just before Christ returns many Jews will turn to Christ - so these again place great importance on Israel when considering the future. But what is a Jew and does the nation of Israel have such prominence in the teaching of scripture regarding the future?
